Visibility with purpose

Every Sunday, in Sunday School, I share a challenge, insight, or reminder to help you grow your business in a way that feels aligned with your values.

This week’s topic? Visibility with purpose.

Because visibility isn’t just about marketing yourself – it’s about showing up for the right reasons.

I am Emily doing business for good

When we talk about “visibility” in business, it’s easy to think only of social media posts, ads, and marketing campaigns. But visibility can also mean something deeper – showing up for what matters, even when there’s no direct financial return.

This week, I’ve been working on projects that don’t bring in immediate income, but they do bring huge value in other ways.

Big Purple Pants

We announced that Big Purple Pants, who support people living with secondary breast cancer, have officially gained charitable status – an incredible milestone. I was proud to play a part in this by building their website, refreshing their logo, creating letterheads, designing posters for Southend Hospital’s breast unit, and supporting their upcoming event.

If you’d like to donate a raffle prize for their event – whether that’s a voucher for your services, a product, a bottle of bubbles, or sweet treats – please email me.

Chatty Boxx

We’ve been designing, branding, photographing, and videoing for Chatty Boxx – a charity for non-verbal children and their families, who we gifted over £15k of marketing resource to last year. These new assets will help them grow, raise awareness, and secure more funding.

Ian Pratt MND Foundation

We launched the Ian Pratt MND Foundation website, supporting people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. This was completed at my charity rate, with some extras added in free of charge – and it’s already bringing in donations.

Keep Helen Rolling

I also set up a GoFundMe for a friend and team member who needs her wheelchair serviced – something her former employer funded, but she’s now expected to pay for after going freelance.

Supporting others in the community

Visibility with purpose is also about recognising others who are making an impact.

One person I’ve noticed doing this brilliantly is Danielle Belton, our local councillor. I’m not into politics – but I’ve seen her actively supporting local businesses and charities, speaking out for the right reasons, and connecting people. She’s visible in a way that builds trust and respect, and that’s exactly the kind of presence I think we need more of.

And if you’re looking for another cause to support, Danielle is currently fundraising for Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust.

None of these projects are “billable” in the traditional sense – but they all make a difference. They raise awareness, strengthen relationships, and align with my values.

Your challenge this week

Do something good.

That could mean:

  • Donating a raffle prize for Big Purple Pants (email me if you can help!).

  • Offering your skills to a charity or community project.

  • Speaking up for someone who needs it.

When you’ve done it – tell people. Share your values. Let your audience see what you stand for.

You’ll feel good. Your audience will connect with you. And you might just change someone’s life.

Drop me a comment below of what you have one this week so I can support and cheer you on – you never know where it might lead!
