Getting organised without losing your head

The truth is… organisation isn’t glamorous.

Sometimes it looks like food shopping, scrubbing the kitchen, and making sure the wine, bubbles and beer are chilled before the family arrives for the weekend.

That’s been my week. And honestly? I love it.

Family chaos (the good kind)

The house is full this weekend with family arriving. I love the buzz of a busy house – the cooking, the chatter, the long walks. But let’s be real: it doesn’t happen without a lot of organising behind the scenes.

And business is no different.

Business chaos (the organised kind)

We’re heading into the last stretch of Q3, and September always comes in fast. For me, that means getting organised now – so I can spend more time working on the business, not just in it.

This week alone I’ve taken on three new clients:– Two brand-new setups (always exciting)– One brand refresh for a business that’s diversified.

That’s the rhythm of this time of year. Everyone comes back from summer ready to make changes, tie up loose ends, and push towards Christmas. By December, I’ll switch off completely. By January, everyone’s hitting the ground running again.

But the organising starts here.

Why it matters

If you leave things messy, you carry that stress straight into the busy season.

And the truth is… it’s not about colour-coding a monster to-do list. It’s about picking the things that actually move you forward and letting go of the rest.

When you’re organised in a way that works for you – whether that’s clearing your inbox, mapping your projects, or yes, stocking the fridge – you create breathing room. You take the pressure down. And you give yourself space to focus on what matters most.

This week’s Sunday School task

Take an hour to get yourself organised before September properly lands.

  • Write down what absolutely needs doing before the end of the month.

  • Cross off what doesn’t (yes, delete it – you’ll live).

  • Circle the one thing that will really move your business forward and make that your focus.

The rest? It can wait.

That’s how you avoid overwhelm. That’s how you keep growing without losing your head.

Final thought

For me this week, organisation meant family, food, and a little fizz. For you, it might look totally different.

But the truth is… it’s not about doing everything. It’s about making sure your list feels doable, not daunting.

Get organised, keep it simple, and head into September feeling ready – not wrung out.
