Behind the scenes at IAE Marketing

Life with Emily isn’t always glossy headshots, client launches, or award nights. Sometimes it’s coffee in hand, a to-do list as long as my arm, and yes — answering emails from the bathroom (because running a business waits for no one).

A day in the life
People often ask me what really goes on behind the scenes at IAE Marketing. The truth? It’s a blend of big-picture strategy and the everyday juggle that comes with running a business.
Some mornings start with early client calls, others are spent in the office with my team, sketching out ideas, checking in on projects, or troubleshooting when things don’t quite go to plan.
And then there are the quiet days at home, laptop open, dog at my feet, ticking off the endless admin that no one ever sees — from chasing invoices to proofing designs to making sure the diary doesn’t implode.
The not-so-glam bits
Behind the brand you see on LinkedIn and Instagram is someone spinning plates just like everyone else. Emails squeezed in between errands. Deadlines balanced with family life. And the occasional bit of imposter syndrome that sneaks in, even after 16 years in business.
It’s not perfect, but it’s real.
The good stuff
What keeps me going are the people I work with. My clients are genuine — they care about what they’re building, even if their purpose is simply to create a business that supports their family. That matters.
I’ve built IAE Marketing around those values: working with people I like, people who are driven, and people who want to get things done without all the fluff. It means I get to spend my days creating brands, strategies, and campaigns that actually work.
Why I’m sharing this
I think it’s easy to scroll through social media and think someone else has it all figured out. The reality? Most of us are juggling. Some days flow smoothly, others feel chaotic, but it’s all part of the process.
So next time you see a shiny new project I’ve delivered, just know there’s also a coffee-fuelled to-do list, a messy inbox, and probably a half-eaten lunch sitting off to the side.
Because behind the scenes — that’s where the real work gets done.
