Reset before you rebuild

Why January is about foundations, not pressure.

January has a habit of arriving loudly. New goals, new expectations, new pressure – all before you’ve had time to catch your breath!

This year, I’m doing things differently.

The start of 2026 has been busy, and if I’m honest, physically demanding. I’ve been navigating migraines and ongoing back pain, with further injections planned to help relieve it. Nothing serious – just my body being very clear that pushing through isn’t always the answer.

And that lesson translates directly into business.

When we talk about resetting a business, it’s often mistaken for stopping or falling behind. In reality, a reset is about creating space – space to think clearly, make better decisions and build something sustainable rather than reactive.

This is the work I’m doing in my own business right now. I’m easing into the year, protecting my energy and setting things up properly so the rest of the year feels achievable. That means clearer boundaries, better structure and not saying yes to everything just because I can.

It’s also the focus inside Plan it. Do it. Grow it. this month.

We’re not diving straight into hustle or growth tactics. January is about resetting first – looking honestly at what’s working, what’s draining you and what needs to change. From there, we rebuild with intention and reposition so you’re not constantly firefighting.

I’ve learned over the years that when health, life or energy takes a knock, your business needs to be able to hold itself together. That doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from clarity, planning and accountability.

If you’re feeling behind already this year, this is your reminder that you’re not. January doesn’t need to be loud to be productive. Sometimes the most strategic thing you can do is slow down, reset and rebuild properly.
